The McDonough County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for the position of Deputy Sheriff. Minimum qualifications include, but are not limited to the following: U.S. Citizen, 21 years of age by the date of hire, must have a high school diploma or equivalent, must have 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours from an accredited academic institution. The applicant must be a resident of McDonough County within 6 months of the date of hire. The applicant must have 2 years of full-time law enforcement experience. The successful applicant must pass a physical test consisting of minimum physical standards set by the Police Training Institute, pass a background check, complete an oral interview, and pass a written test. This is a full time position and currently starting salary is $52,315.00, after one year salary would be $54,314.00. McDonough County offers benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance as well as paid sick leave, holidays, vacation, and IMRF SLEP retirement.
