Recent Event - November 2016

The McDonough County Sheriff's Office, Macomb Police Department and Macomb Fire Department recently recognized State Rep. Norine Hammond for her support of local emergency services. Hammond was presented with a Citizen Appreciation Award Plaque by Sheriff VanBrooker, Chief Barker and interim Chief J.R. Hyde. Recent Event - October 2016

Two local students were recently awarded scholarships from the FOP Lodge #280. FOP Lodge #280 awards scholarships to local students each year.

Hailey Duvall is from the Macomb area and later graduated from Spoon River College and is currently a Senior at Southern Illinois University. Pictured is Deputy Arnold presenting a $250.00 check to Duvall.

Recent Event - September 2016

The Illinois State Crime Stoppers board recently awarded three local Crime Stoppers supporters. Dan Morgan, Stan Cunningham and Lisa Ward were all recognized for their dedication to the local program. Morgan and Cunningham were commended by the board for their long term commitment to the program. Morgan has been a member and on the local board for 19 years, and Cunningham has been with Macomb Area Crime Stoppers since its inception in 1989. Ward was recognized for her many years of contribution and assistance with local fundraising.

Recent Event - August 2016

The McDonough County F.O.P. Lodge #280 held its annual "Buddy Program" at Wal-Mart this year. 75 area school children from the West Prairie, Bushnell and Macomb school districts paired up with deputies to shop for school supplies and clothing. Hy-Vee and Refreshment Services Pepsi donated hot dogs and refreshments for all that participated. The Emmet-Chalmers and Colchester Fire Departments assisted at the event as well. Pictured are Aux. Recent Event - July 2016

Two Doors Down recently held a golf tournament in Blandinsville and donated the proceeds to the McDonough County FOP Lodge. Two Doors owners Randy and Anne Whited present a check for $1,250 to Deputy Butterfield. The donation will be used to support the Lodge's upcoming "Buddy Program" before the start of the school year.

Recent Event - July 2016

The McDonough County FOP Lodge #280 recently donated $200.00 to the St. Jude run. Accepting the check from Deputy Walton is Mary Lage. LAGE is a 911 dispatcher and has participated in the event for several years.

The McDonough County Sheriff's Office received grant to purchase a new K9 vehicle. The office was provided with $68,000 which allowed for the purchase and outfitting of a new 2016 Tahoe. Pictured is K9 Kenzo next to his new squad car.

Macomb Area Crime Stoppers proudly displays the first Crime Stopper Pepsi Machine. Refreshment Services Pepsi recently partnered with the Macomb Area Crime Stoppers program to assist with advertising. WalMart agreed to place the first machine that displays Crime Stopper contact information. Crime Stoppers and Pepsi are seeking additional locations in McDonough County to place additional machines. If a business or entity is interested in placing a machine please contact Trent Barkley at 309-833-4263. Recent Event - May 2016

Sheriff VanBrooker announces the addition of Bloodhound "Daisy" to the Sheriff's Office. Daisy was purchased in July of 2015 with a donation from the Macomb Elks Lodge and paired with Deputy Rowland. Deputy Rowland and Daisy recently completed training and certification by the National Police Bloodhound Association in the field of human trailing. Rowland is a retired Master Sgt. with the Illinois State Police. The pair will assist the Sheriff's Office and surrounding agencies in tracking criminals and missing persons.

Recent Event - March 2016

The Macomb Area Crime Stoppers held their fourth annual Lasagna Dinner at the Forum in Macomb. This year's activities included a performance by the WIU Jazz Combo, K9 and Taser demonstrations, and a live auction. Over $14,000 was raised at the event, which will assist the program for another year.

Recent Event - December 2015

The Macomb Area Crime Stoppers recently awarded two members for their lengthy service and dedication to the program. Dan Morgan and Stan Cunningham both received plaques and recognition from the crime stoppers board. Morgan was recognized for being a member for 19 years and serving as treasurer for 16 years. Cunningham has been with the local crime stoppers group since its inception in 1989. He has served as president for every year since. Both Morgan and Cunningham stepped down from there respected positions last month, but will remain on the board.

The McDonough County Sheriff's Office recently awarded Michael Mueller with a $250.00 scholarship. Mueller is currently a senior at Macomb High School and has been accepted to attend Western Illinois University. Pictured is Mueller and Deputy Sam Moore.

Recent Event - July 2015

The McDonough County Sheriff's Office FOP Lodge #280 recently donated $250.00 to the St. Jude's run. Pictured and accepting the check is McDonough County 911 Dispatcher Mary Lage and Deputy Cody Lovell. This year marks the 12th St. Jude's run that Lage has participated in.

Recent Event - June 2015

Chuck Laird is presented an award from the Illinois State Crime Stoppers board for Board Member of the Year. LAIRD was nomintated in May at the State Board conference and received the award in June. LAIRD has been on the Crime Stoppers board for 5 years.

Travis Hiel of Hiel Trucking is presented with an award for Macomb Area Crime Stopper's Contributor of the Year. Hiel's were nominated in May for the award at the Illinois State Crime Stoppers Conference. Hiel Trucking has sponsored the Macomb Area Crime Stoppers fundraiser since its inception.

Recent Event - March 2015

The Macomb Area Crime Stoppers held their third annual Lasagna Dinner at the Forum in Macomb. This year's activities included a chance to throw a pie at several local law enforcement officials. K9 Kenzo visits PACT Head Start. Kenzo was introduced to the children and they were allowed to play with him. Children learned about what Kenzo's did at the Sheriff's Office and his Dutch commands.

Recent Event - February 2015

Deputy Cremer and K9 Kenzo visited Bushnell Elementary School. Students learned how Kenzo was trained and the different aspects of his job.

The McDonough County Sheriff's Office FOP Lodge #280 held its annual buddy program at Wal-Mart in Macomb. Over 75 area children were able to shop with deputies for much needed school supplies and clothing. The Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Macomb, Bushnell, Colchester, and Blandinsville Police Departments along with the Colchester and Emmet-Chalmers Fire Departments. Hy-Vee and Pepsi provided hot dogs and refreshments to all families that participated in this year's event.

Recent Event - April 2014

The Macomb Area Crime Stoppers held their second annual Lasagna Dinner at the Forum in Macomb. The event included a live and silent auction, K9 and Taser demonstration, and 50 / 50 drawing. This year's event raised over $17,000. The money will allow the program to continue to assist area Law Enforcement in fight against criminal activity.

The McDonough County Sheriff's Office FOP Lodge #280 held its annual Buddy Program at JCPennies in Macomb. Over 90 area children were provided with schools supplies and shopped for clothing with deputies and officers. The Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Colchester, Blandinsville, Bushnell and Macomb Police Departments, along with the Macomb Fire Department.

The McDonough County FOP Lodge #280 recently donated to VIBE. This years funding will assist area fire departments, and first responders, including the Sheriff's Office by providing squad cars with Stat X cans. Pictured is Deputy Phelps, Kassie Courson, and Detective John Swearingen.

 

Recent Event - April 2013

Macomb Area Crime Stoppers held is first Lasanga Dinner Fundraiser at Magnolia's in Macomb. The dinner featured a silent auction and a 50/50 drawing. Over $7,500 was raised which will help the program with increasing costs.

Recent Event - September 2012

The McDonough Sheriff's Office initiated an inmate work program in August of 2012. Inmates are selected after they have been sentenced to the jail and have agreed to the terms and conditions of the program. The inmates then provide labor to any entity that is supported by tax dollars. They are supervised by a deputy or auxiliary deputy while they work.

The McDonough County Sheriff's Office Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #280 participated in its annual "Buddy Program" at JCPenny's in Macomb this year. Over 60 area school children were provided with much needed school supplies and clothing. The Sheriff's Office was assisted in the event by McDonough County Auxiliary Deputies, the Colchester Police Department, Blandinsville Police Department and the Macomb Police and Fire Departments.

Recent Event - March 2012

Deputies from the McDonough County Sheriff's Office along with officers from the Macomb Police Department and Western IL University Office of Public Safety participated in the 2012 Polar Plunge in Galesburg. The annual event raises money for the Special Olympics.

The McDonough County Sheriff's Office F.O.P. Lodge #280 held its annual Buddy Program at WalMart.  Deputies of the Sheriff's Office Lodge along with the McDonough County Sheriff's Auxilary, Macomb Police Department, Colchester Police Department and Blandinsville Police Department assisted over 80 area children in purchasing needed school supplies and clothing.

Deputies from Lodge #280 donated over $600.00 in toys to the Blandinsville First State Bank gift tree. The toys wiil be delivered to families by the Blandinsville Police Department this Christmas. McDonough County Deputies from F.O.P. Lodge #280 donated $1,000 to the McDonough County 4-H shooting sports program. The donated money will allow for the purchase of equipment needed to start the program.

Deputy John Carson presents Aleecia LaCourse with a $1,000.00 scholarship check. LaCourse was picked from several applicants that applied to the scholarship. LaCourse resides in Bushnell and is currently attending Western IL University. The McDonough County Fraternal Order of Police (F.O.P.) awards several scholarships annually to local residents who apply.

Carman is originally from the Industry area and is currently enrolled at Southern IL University. Deputies in the F.O.P. Lodge #280 held a chicken and fish fry at the Macomb Eagles Club. The fundraiser was used to help fund the upcoming "Buddy Program" and local school scholarships.

Recent Event - 05/18/09

Deputy Pilat introduces residents at Eisenhower Tower to his K-9, Kilo. Residents were able to watch Kilo locate narcotics during a demonstration.

Recent Event - 04/27/09

Deputy Tom Pledge poses with students at Lincoln School in Macomb for Safety Day. McDonough County Sheriff's Office along with the Macomb Police, Macomb Fire Dept and McDonough District Hospital spoke with first graders from the Macomb School District. The students were given hand-outs and were given tours of the police cars, fire trucks and ambulance.

Recent Event - 04/24/09

Deputy Tom Pledge participates in the Mock DUI project on Western Illinois Campus. The event is designed to give WIU and high school students a real view into a DUI crash. Officers from the WIU office of public safety, Illinois State Police, Macomb Police Department, McDonough County Sheriff's Office, as well as emergency personel from the Western Emergency Medical Services, Macomb Fire Department, and McDonough District Hospital participated in the annual event.
